Drew Fredenburg (They/Them) is a Nonbinary visual artist from Oakland California, and is currently a student of Pacific Northwest College of Art.
They grew up engaging in visual arts from a young age, and attended Oakland School of the Arts from 6th-12th grade, which gave them a strong foundation in traditional fine art forms:; pPainting, drawing, watercolor, printmaking, and sculpture. During their high school experience they began to develop a conceptual and visual construct constituted into overlapping narratives they continue to work to synthesize into a comic. This story aims to challenge normative narratives in our culture, and our need to incorporate ignored storiesstorities of oppressed groups that are systematically eliminated from our greater social narratives. For their high school senior thesis, they exhibited their Transitions And More Scars series In the Flux group show in the Whitebox Gallery. This body of work explores their coming out, queer identity, and their transition. They continue to work on this body of work. |
